1. Discover your unique learning path

You are much more likely to remember what you have learned when you care about the subject. Regularly motivate yourself to learn, and remind yourself that you enjoy what you are doing. 3. Discover new ways to learn

4. Take breaks regularly

In order to retain information you’re going to need to give your mind, and your body, some time to relax and absorb what you have just learned. Take regular twenty minute breaks as you study, and ensure you take a long break in order to enjoy a meal. As you study you will begin to notice the mental and physical cues your body makes to let you know it has reached the end of its optimum learning time, take a break and make a note of your usual learning time and try to schedule your study to suit it.

5. Study around sleep

Sleep plays an active part in memory, and right before you go to bed and immediately after you wake up your brain secretes chemicals to help to form memories. The best time to learn – or review information that you’ve learned – is just before you go to sleep and right when you wake up. Studying first thing in the morning and last thing at night ensures your brain is focused, during the day your mind is constantly filtering new information and your brain isn’t as well equipped to retain it.
