The Pearson Edexcel Level 5 HND qualification is a UK accredited course which is internationally recognised.

The HND is a modular Business programme equivalent to the first two years of a degree and with one year of extra study at a UK University it can become a BA Honours Degree. We offer a selection of Top Up BA Hons Business courses in partnership with Arden University, which are also online and which you can access once you have completed your HND.

This qualification a foundation course, aimed at students who would like a good knowledge of all Business aspects.

As the HND is part of the Qualifications and Framework (RQF) it has transferable credits of a minimum of 240.

The HND in Business has 15 units.

Business and the Business Environment

  • Provides learners with an understanding of different organisations
  • Understand the influence of stakeholders and the relationship between businesses and the local, national and global environments

Marketing Essentials

  • Understand the purchase decision-making process
  • Recognise situations that influence buying behaviour
  • Exploration of marketing research process

Human Resource Management

  • Builds knowledge and understanding developed in Human Resources
  • Understand the application of Human Resource Management

Management and Operations

  • Understand the operations function within an organisation
  • Develop knowledge to include elements of product and job design, planning and control

Management Accounting

  • Analyses of cost information, both current and future
  • Budgetary planning and control
  • Preparing forecasts and budgets

Business Law

  • Explain the basic nature of the legal system
  • Illustrate the potential impact of the law on a business
  • Suggest appropriate legal solutions to business problems
  • Recommend appropriate legal solutions based upon alternative legal advice provided

Financial Accounting

  • Record business transactions using double entry book-keeping, and be able to extract a trial balance
  • Prepare final accounts for sole-traders, partnerships or limited companies in accordance with appropriate principles, conventions and standards
  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure company and bank records are correct
  • Reconcile control accounts and shift recorded transactions from the suspense accounts to the right accounts

Managing a Successful Business Project

  • Establish project aims, objectives and timeframes based on the chosen theme
  • Conduct small-scale research, information gathering and data collection to generate knowledge to support the project
  • Present the project and communicate appropriate recommendations based on meaningful conclusions drawn from the evidence findings and/or analysis

Entry Criteria

Students must:

  • Students must be over 18 years of age
  • English language fluency to IELTS Level 5.5. (International students only)
  • Have a related Level 3 qualification or related work experience (paid or unpaid)

Start Date

  • Every Monday, excluding UK Bank Holidays

Course Duration

  • Approximately 24 months

Course Assessment

  • Completion of an assignment for each unit
  • No examinations

Study Support

  • Students are allocated a UK-based Tutor
  • Tutors are available by telephone and Moodle Messaging (email via the Virtual Learning Environment) to discuss course materials and provide support and assistance with assignments
  • Students Services are available by telephone and email to assist with any issues or concerns during your course

Course Delivery

  • The course is a self-study course. It is delivered via an online Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) called Moodle
  • All course materials are available online

  • 4 to 6 weeks per unit
  • You will be given a timetable to follow
Fees & Funding

There are several ways you can pay for your fees.

Level 5 HND Business

£3250 GBP, plus Edexcel Registration Fee £292.98

The course fees cover all study materials, personal tutor support and assessments.

Instalment Option

Note: There is a £100 admin charge if using this option

Deposit and Registration Fee: Deposit £551 plus registration fee

Eighteen instalments of £155.50 payable on the 1st of each month after the start of the course

 

Loan Option

Loans available for UK students (subject to status) – minimum 10% deposit of complete fee then 0% APR over 6, 10 or 12 months.
