Target of the Unit

This unit sets objectives and assesses the leadership competence and skill, tracking the improvement of the learner.

1. Review professional development and be able to assess and plan for further development

Criteria of Assessment

1.1 Realise the value of continual self-development in completing business objectives
1.2 Observe role requirements and business objectives and assess the learners own current skill level
1.3 Discover current and future needs and identify development opportunities accordingly
1.4 Create a personal development plan with goals that are challenging yet achievable

2. Construct a plan to obtain the resources required for further professional development

Criteria of Assessment

2.1 Establish what is required to support a personal development plan
2.2 Create a business case to obtain the resources needed to support a personal development plan

3. Be capable of implementing and evaluating the personal development plan

Criteria of Assessment

3.1 Review the personal development plan and discuss the processes required to implement it
3.2 Understand role requirements and business objectives and evaluate the impact of the personal development plan respectively
3.3 Evaluate the personal development plan

4. Be capable of supporting and promoting the welfare of staff members

Criteria Assessment

4.1 Identify staff welfare and business objectives and explain the relationship between the two
4.2 Outline what is required of the manager dealing with a staff welfare issue
4.3 Outline the requirements for processing and assessing staff welfare
4.4 Explain the process of communicating responsiblities for staff welfare
4.5 Discuss records that may be kept to prove that staff welfare is taken care of
