CIPS Advanced Diploma in Purchasing & Supply Level 5

The CIPS Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply is a UK Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply accredited, internationally recognised programme that is designed to enable Managers or Specialists in procurement, purchasing and supply, and supply chain roles to enhance their knowledge and understanding and gain a valuable professional qualification. The content is also suitable for Owner Managers and Consultants who wish to gain a high level of knowledge about this essential area of business.

Successful completion of this qualification entitles holders to Associate Membership of the CIPS.

In addition, the design of the Level 5 Advanced Diploma means that the course also provides a sound basis for specialist managers who wish to develop further and take higher level qualifications, such as the CIPS Level 6 Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply, or a professional development Level 5 Diploma in Management, Human Resources, Marketing, Leadership, or Quality, or a Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Project Management.

Accreditation

The Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply is accredited by CIPS, the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, the leading Accreditation Body in this field. CIPS accreditation is recognised internationally and its qualifications are accepted by employers, professional associations, and higher education establishments throughout the world.

Entry Requirements

Students must:

  • be over 23 years of age
  • have at least 4 years of work experience
  • be in a Specialist or Managerial position

Start Date

Every Monday, except UK Bank Holidays.

Duration

12 to 18 months.

Content

The course comprises 3 mandatory modules and 2 Optional modules.

Mandatory Modules:

  • L5-01 Management in the Purchasing Function
  • L5-02 Risk Management and Supply Chain Vulnerability
  • L5-03 Improving Supply Chain Performance

Optional Modules - 2 to be selected from:

  • L5-10 Marketing for Purchasers
  • L5-11 Storage and Distribution
  • L5-12 Operations Management in the Supply Chain
  • L5-13 The Machinery of Government
  • L5-14 Contracting in the Public Sector
  • L5-15 Sustainable Procurement

5 Modules - 3 Mandatory and 2 Optional - must be successfully completed to gain the award.

Assessment Requirements

  • Assessment for all 5 Modules is by External Examination
  • UK Examinations are held in November, January, March, May, and July
  • International Examinations are held in November and May

Tutor Support

Following registration, you will be allocated a UK-based tutor, who will be available by telephone, fax, and email to discuss your coursework and give advice and guidance on assignments.

Study Time

Each Module will require a minimum of 50 hours of core material study, plus a further 30 hours of wider reading and research
